Grow tent

Everyone knows the classic grow tent for simple home growing. A grow tent is cheap and easy to set up and take down. However, your visitors will wonder why there is a strange tent in your apartment. In addition, there are some problems after a short time. Often the zipper gets stuck or the tent rips open because there is too much tension on the fabric. The rods bend or break, as the load-bearing capacity of the rods supplied is only designed for a few kilos. The reflection of the light also comes from below in the tents, which then makes the plants more difficult to grow upwards.

Grow cabinet made of wood

So a grow tent is too conspicuous and doesn’t look particularly nice anyway? That’s why you might prefer to use a grow cabinet. There is now the possibility of simply converting a wooden cabinet and using it as a grow cabinet. But why shouldn’t wood be used as a material for home growing? Why do you think we bother to bend metal? Wood is much easier and more individual to work with, it is cheaper and can be cut to any size. Nevertheless, we use metal as the material for our Hazelbox®.

Tastes bad

Wood will not withstand the high humidity in a grow box for long. Classic industrial greenhouses are also made of glass, plastic (grow tent) or metal. Wood is an organic material and as soon as it comes into contact with moisture it provides a wonderful breeding ground and space for bacteria and other small animals to grow. Vegetables from a wooden cupboard will taste more mossy or musty and smell strange.

The only living things in a grow box should be your plants

After each use of a grow box, the cabinet should be cleaned, or even better, disinfected immediately. Such cleaning does not affect your Hazelbox®, because this is one of the reasons why metal is optimally recommended as a material. In particular, the side walls, the floor and the supply and exhaust air flanges should be cleaned.

This is the only way you can be sure that no microbes, bacteria and other microorganisms will attack your harvest during your next home grow.

Paypal 0 % installment plan

Is available in Germany and some participating EU countries. This PayPal Plus service is available to most PayPal customers with a 3 to 24 month installment.

We offer you the Paypal 0% financing through our shop from December 20th, 2021 – December 31st, 2023. That means you don’t pay any further fees or interest. For the Hazelbox Compact, for example, rates from 69 € per month are possible.

Klarna payment

Available in Austria, Germany and other participating EU countries. This is interesting for our customers in Austria, because unfortunately there is no PayPal installment payment there. Here, too, individual tariffs and offers are available from 3 to 24 months. Klarna is currently proposing an annual interest rate of 9.9%. But that doesn’t mean that you have to pay almost 10 percent more. Since the amount is reduced every month, the interest contributions also decrease in the long run. At a price of € 150, the fee is not just under € 15, but only about € 7.80.

What does a grow box complete set actually mean?

Normally one understands this as a complete set that combines all the necessary components for a grow box. This should make it easier to get started with home growing. Because to put a grow set into operation you need around 15 different individual parts. Among other things, the grow lamp, the fan, the activated carbon filter, the timers for control and so on. In addition, there are different standards and connection sizes. So not every exhaust hose fits to the fan or not every cable to the lamp.

In addition, it is important that the performance of the devices fits together. A very fast car also needs strong brakes.

With a complete grow box set, all individual parts of a grow box are matched to one another in the same way.

Standard grow box sets

With normal standard growboxes that you get in the grow shops, the components are put together appropriately. However, the user must first assemble these components in a complex manner. Not that easy without tools and experience. This can still be seen most clearly in the exhaust air systems, which have to be equipped with a power plug. Sometimes a soldering iron must be available to wire the system. Even a well-configured grow box complete set needs a lot of time and manual skill to go into operation. The individual parts in a grow box require a lot of space, not to mention the tangled cables. That, in turn, takes up space for your plants.

Are you looking for a Grow LED? There are now hundreds of manufacturers of grow LEDs for grow boxes. What is important in an LED grow light and how does it work? And what makes our Hazelbeam2 so special and unique?

Grow lamp

In order to grow plants without natural light, so-called growing lamps have been available since the middle of the last century. Up until 10 years ago the sodium vapor lamp was the most widely used light source for growing plants with a high energy requirement. After all, natural sunlight has to be simulated. The disadvantages of a sodium vapor lamp are quickly listed. There is a risk of fire due to the heat, a lot of electricity is required and you have to control the lamp with a ballast. In addition, the SVLs only serve a very small spectrum of light. The light bulbs have to be replaced regularly and cause hazardous waste. This variant was very daunting, especially for beginners in home growing, and it prevented many from starting their own home growing.

Since the 2010s there have been LEDs that have such a high output that they can be used as grow LEDs. Before that, LEDs were too weak and too expensive. But what is important with Grow LEDs?

Many new home growers think watts = yield. This is not true at all.

Power

Because it depends on different properties of the lamp. What is the wattage all about? Various manufacturers want to represent a kind of measured value for performance here. But this is often not true. It may be that a manufacturer simply uses a 400 watt driver or a 400 watt power supply to advertise a lamp equipped with 80 watt LEDs. You can find such offers especially with the particularly cheap Grow LEDs on the big shopping sites. A homegrow LED lamp, which has now been equipped with 300 watt LEDs, actually draws a lower value on the current. You can say that a 3 watt LED needs approx. 2.6 watts of electricity from the net.

These values ​​can vary. How bright and therefore powerful a grow lamp is can be seen from the LUX values. These values ​​can be influenced by the bending and grinding of the LED lenses. 60 degree lenses focus the light in a more concentrated manner than, for example, 120 degree lenses, which distribute the light better, but with less intensity. So the performance of your Grow LED also depends on the quality of the lenses.

Light spectrum

In addition, the light spectrum is important for the optimal growth of the plants. The light spectrum are the different wavelengths in light. To put it simply, one should pay attention to the blue, white and red components in the spectrum in the home growing area. There are also extra channels for ultraviolet light and an infrared component. Above all, the last mentioned do not usually appear in the simple LED grow lights. But these are important for the growth and flowering of the plants. Above all, a high-quality LED grow lamp should generate the right light spectrum for your plants.

Many grow lights only have one color spectrum available. This means that, for example, only blue parts of the color can be used to grow a plant. For the flowering of the plant, however, red parts of the color are needed. In the past, the bulb was changed or the entire LED lamp had to be replaced. With the Hazelbeam2, you simply switch from growing to blooming mode at the push of a button. The light spectrum and the lenses of the LEDs are perfectly matched to the space of up to 1 square meter. The times are also preprogrammed and run automatically every day in a cycle. There is even a sunrise and sunset mode that lets the plants gently differentiate between night and day time.

But despite the high performance of our Hazelbeam2, we paid close attention to the lowest possible power consumption. The best thing about the Hazelbeam2 is not only the easy-to-use and efficient LED grow light, but that the other components of a grow box are also in the same housing. The exhaust air in your grow box is permanently sucked in by the fan. In the Hazelbeam there is an exchangeable activated carbon filter that filters the smells. All you have to do is to hang the Hazelbeam2 in your grow tent or Hazelbox and you can start your home grow straight away. Plug and Grow.

Sustainability

We pay attention to longevity and sustainability in our products. The components of the Hazelbox and Hazelbeam2 can also be exchanged individually after the warranty has expired. We receive many questions about how many plants fit in the Hazelbox® Plus and in our compact version. Here is a photo of our current tomato yield. Depending on how it grows the plants, either 3 wide or 6 rather narrow and tall plants fit into the Hazelbox® Plus. A maximum of 5 flower pots are recommended for the Hazelbox® Compact.
